Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide joining instructions?

Once you have booked your specific Walk or Tour, Beyond The Map London will provide a PDF download giving directions, instructions and guidance, approximately 40 questions, tasks to perform and details your of your start and finish point. You will also receive this as an online option.

It’s your choice whether to be ‘old school’ and print a paper version or to follow the Walk or Tour and answer the questions online on your mobile device as you walk.

We can also post you a copy for and additional fee to cover P & P.

What is the difference between a Beyond The Map Walk and Tour?

A Walk is a historical trek around the streets of London while seeking out hidden secrets and clues prompted by instructions you will be provided.
A Tour on the other hand has similar instructions clues and questions, but are designed to guide you via historical taverns or well-hidden Speakeasy Bars on route for a little light refreshment!

How long does a Walk or Tour take and how far are they in terms of walking ?

In the case of a Beyond The Map Walk we would normally suggest 3 hrs, most of which is outdoors, whereas in the case of a Tour, where you are encouraged to visit and sample a Tavern or Speakeasy Bar and we would recommend you allow 4hr to 5 hrs.

Approximate timings are indicated throughout the Quiz sheet.

The Walks and Tours are between 3-5 miles in terms of length

How do we obtain the answers?

The online mobile webapp already has the answers built into the quiz but only become known at the end of each completed section. For the PDF version we will supply an answer sheet via a security code protected method.

How many people can be part of our party or group?

Beyond The Map recommends 4-6 people is the ideal number per group because each member of the group has a role to play. See our website for the individual recommended roles eg Scribe, The Googler, Photographer etc.   These roles are of course optional, and you can have as many or as few in a team as you would like.

What precautions have Beyond The Map London taken to be Covid resilient?

As our Walks and Tours and clues are predominantly outside, they are as covid secure as possible. Our Tours  do require you to enter a venue, either a tavern or speakeasy,  therefore we ask that you ensure you follow current government guidelines at all times regarding your personal covid safety.

Are the Beyond The Map London Walks and Tours suitable for families and young children?

The Beyond The Map London Walks are family friendly although you will need to cross numerous roads and avoid the traffic.

Beyond The Map London Tavern & Speakeasy Tours are less suitable and are subject to the individual premises licences and rules, but we wouldn’t recommend the Tours for families with children under the age of 18.

We try to ensure our Walks and Tours are regularly updated, with this in mind, if you have any accessibility issues whilst on one of our Walks or Tours, please do let contact us at Beyond The Map

What is accessibility like for those people who might have some walking limitations?

All of the Beyond The Map London Walks and Tours identify accessibility or where it might be more difficult for some participants and where possible provide an alternative solution.

What if I am not able to complete the Walk or Tour due to road and or building closures, that somehow prevents me completing this alternative sightseeing experience?

Our Walks and Tours are constantly monitored, refreshed and checked for  such eventualities but Beyond The Map London cannot be held responsible for any changes which are out of our control. As a consequence, there is no refund mechanism available, but we will look at each case and where appropriate provide an alternative Walk or Tour free of charge dependent on  the individual circumstances.
