The London boozer is alive and kicking

Citizens are descending on London pubs for extraordinarily different reasons and there lies the strength of the London public house; it can be all things to all people. Recent innovation is astonishing. The London boozer is indeed alive and kicking.
It’s not just about music and gaming machines anymore; it’s much, much broader than that. Delicatessen, Amazon collect point, Post Office, library, cinema, theatre, table top curling alleys, brewery, all day bottomless coffee and music. You will find a pub in London with one or more of these in.
But when the consumer hones in on the London pub are they drinking inventive beers with endless varieties, evidently not. Oh no! There are 129 craft brewers in London all dedicated to turning out some of the tastiest brews in every style for every taste.
Beavertown with Gamma Ray, London Fields with Hackney Hopster and Four Pure with Indy Lager; all award winners and all eye openers. But are the punters rushing into London pubs just for these schooners of joy?
Oh no! They are plunging in for Heineken, Guinness and Carlsberg; mass produced, anodyne beers brewed, it is said, to remove flavour. Yes, those are the top selling drinks in London; and by a long, long way. Come on London drinkers, step up, be brave…try something new.
Love the Lamb & Flag but try Brewdog, hold on to the Red Lion but give Craft Brewing Company a go and you don’t need to lose your affection for your local but stretch out and experience a craft brewers tap room. It’s all there under your nose in London.
Interestingly London’s two biggest family brewers Fullers and Youngs, seem to be turning out better and better pubs since they sold their brewing arms. And more titillating, Fullers are having fun collaborating with much smaller craft brewers to come up with some mighty beverages.

The London pub reinvents itself yet again.
