1 Monument Underground Station
The start point is Monument Underground Station on the District and Circle lines.
Exit from Monument Station and use the Subway to get to the west side of London Bridge on King William Street.
Walk on the right-hand pavement of the bridge over the River Thames.Take some time to enjoy the river views. There has been a river crossing on this site since Roman times.

2 Glaziers Hall
On the bank of the river ahead of you, next to the end of the bridge, is Glaziers Hall

3 Nancys Steps
After you’ve walked past Glaziers Hall look for some steps on your right, but do not go down them.
These steps and the arch you are about to go over survived from John Rennie’s London Bridge and are known as “Nancy’s Steps”.

4 Borough Market
Continue straight on into Borough High Street and then you have Southwark Cathedral on your right. Carry straight on under the railway bridge. Cross over a small road at the pedestrian crossing and walk past Leon on your right. Follow the road round to the right past an entrance to London Bridge Station and then turn right into Stoney Street.
Borough Market on your right is the city’s oldest fruit-and-veg market, famed now for trendy gourmet food. http://boroughmarket.org.uk/

5 Wyndham House Poultry
Having turned right into Stoney Street, immediately turn right into Borough Market between Chegworth Valley and Ted’s Veg. If you are doing this London Hidden Clue Route on a Friday or Saturday you will need sharp elbows to push through the crowd. Arrive at Jumi Cheese on your left then walk over towards Wyndham House Poultry. Stop and look for a white wall with a wooden board with the information you need.

6 Cathedral Street
Turn left under The Schedule of Rents and walk through the market traders with Turnips on your right. Exit from the market after Roast and the Ginger Pig and turn right into Stoney Street. Carry on under the railway arches and then turn right into Winchester Walk. At the end of Winchester Walk with the entrance to Southwark Cathedral ahead of you, turn left into Cathedral Street.

7 St Mary Overie’s Dock
Take the left hand cobbled road between Minerva House and Palace House. A replica of Sir Francis Drake’s Golden Hinde is on your right in St Mary Overie’s Dock

8 The Old Thameside Inn
Go past The Golden Hinde and to the river with The Old Thameside Inn on your left .
The Old Thameside Inn was formerly a Tea and Spice Warehouse.

9 Pickfords Wharf
Retrace your footsteps and take the first road on your right, Pickfords Wharf.
On your left are the remains of The Rose Window, which is all that remains of Winchester Palace.

10 Clink Prison
Carry on along Pickford Wharf which becomes Clink Street. Continue past the Clink Prison Museum on your left. At the end of Clink Street turn right into Bankend.
Clink Prison was so notorious that its name (derived from the word “clinken” meaning to lock or fasten) became synonymous with all prisons.
The Anchor pub is on your left.

11 Walk along the river
Turn left. Walk along with the river on your right towards the upcoming Southwark Bridge.

12 Southwark Bridge
Once at Southwark Bridge turn left and immediately right under the bridge through the pedestrian tunnel with a frieze on your left.
