Description

Bridge to Bridge Self Guided Walk

In AD 43 the Roman’s built the first crossing of the River Thames, London Bridge. Millennium Bridge, in 2000, was the most recent pedestrian bridge erected. On this walk you will unearth mediaeval characteristics of the City of London and Southwark, visit Borough market (still trading after 1,000 years) and find a full size model of the first English ship to sail around the world.

Once alongside the bear baiting pit you will locate a 12th century ferryman’s seat, onto Shakespeare’s Globe and then cross the bridge straight into St Paul’s Cathedral and some ancient alleyways. Back to the river for your return walk back to London Bridge.

    Towering London

The Towering London walk will give you cramp in the neck as the towers along the way are so high you are permanently looking skyward. How on earth do these skyscrapers stand? Bringing Tower Bridge in as a feature was a masterpiece; it enabled us to see what the Victorians were capable of compared to what modern day constructors can do. We enjoyed the length and pace of the walk, and the historic clues were very clever and required to us be alert all the way. Annoyingly we got 2 wrong gggrrrrrrr.

    Speakeasy’s in London?

Who knew if you walked into a barber’s shop you can go down some secret stairs to find a vibrant bar? Loved this tour - great fun finding these amazing watering holes, discovering unfamiliar areas of the City (and I thought I was a Londoner) and answering questions on Prohibition. Thank you Beyond The Map. This was my third tour with you and they all exceed expectations for both fun and discovery. What’s next?

    London Open Gardens.

Had a great afternoon visiting London’s Open Gardens whilst taking part in a walking quiz created by Beyond the Map London. It was an interesting and engaging walk. Last stop was in Hyde Park for a picnic. An absolutely brilliant way of exploring London, I am looking forward to doing another walk soon. A big thank you and well done to Malcolm and his team.

Discover the hidden gardens of Kensington

I didn't realise there were so many hidden gardens and squares in London but once a year they are open to the public. This walk included entry to the gardens and a quiz to complete with lots of interesting information. My favourite garden was the rooftop tranquillity of the Ismaili Centre near the V&A museum. So peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend this walk if you are interested in gardens and exploring the hidden gems of London.

Lovely walk along the Millbank with fun questions!

Had a great day out in London, where I don’t often visit, and learnt lots of interesting facts along the walk. Visited the Tate and spent an hour there before starting the walk where we strolled through Millbank along the Thames through some lovely gardens. Found a hidden underground pub for a drink which I wouldn’t have found before!

Excellent tour at a great price

Really great day out. We had a great day exploring the hidden gems in London. It’s really good for those who are not used to exploring, because the instructions were super clear. We found a lot of interesting places, and learn so much. The price for the tour was really reasonable and covered a few hours. I would highly recommend it!

Fun and Informative Historical Walk in London

I had the privilege of going to a taster walk 'The City of London - Roman Times' this weekend with a couple of sisters. Despite it being a drizzly day, it didn't dampen our spirits and had lots of fun. You book your chosen walk on the website, so no downloading extra apps. We hope to return for another of your walks soon.

London walking tour with a difference

We loved this unique Greenwich & Tavern walking tour. Went to places we would never had found on our own so nice to do something other than the run of the mill. We would definitely recommend and are looking forward to do the rest of the tours.

    Discovering hidden gems…

What a great way to see some of the hidden gems of the big city! Follow the clues – be directed to interesting points – and in the case of the Tavern Tour be told when to stop in a pub! What more can you ask for! Great few hours seeing some parts of London I would never have thought to visit, but so glad I have.
