13 Pankhurst Memorial
Go past the statue and towards the exit from the gardens under the Victoria Tower of the Houses of Parliament.
Before you go through the gate onto Millbank turn right into a small area where there is a memorial to Emmeline Pankhurst.

14 Houses of Parliament
Come out of the gardens with your back to the statue and turn right.
Stay on this pavement and go past the In and Out gates on your right.
The Houses of Parliament are now on your right.

15 Richard I
Carry on walking along this pavement.
Outside the Houses of Parliament is a statue of Richard I, Coeur de Lion (or Lionheart).
This is a busy tourist area, so take care with personal belongings.

16 Westminster
At the end of the Houses of Parliament, cross straight over Bridge Street at the pedestrian crossing and turn right to go past the entrance to Westminster Underground Station.

17 Boadicea
Walk along Bridge Street towards Westminster Bridge.
Cross straight over Victoria Embankment at the pedestrian crossing.
Above you is a statue of Boadicea and her daughters driving a war chariot.

18 Westminster Pier
Turn left along the embankment with the river on your right. Walk past Westminster Pier with a wall on your right.
At the end of the wall stay above the steps leading down to river level.

19 Battle of Britain Monument
Walk along with the river on your right to the Battle of Britain monument and look above the famous quote from Winston Churchill on the river side of the monument.
You are now half way through your walk.

20 Embankment
Carry on along the Embankment and stop under the RAF Memorial which has a golden eagle on top.

21 Whitehall Gardens
Carefully cross the Embankment at the next pedestrian crossing on your left, noting that there are two cycle lanes as well as the main traffic.
Turn right and cross Horse Guards Avenue.
Turn left into Whitehall Gardens, then right, looking for a statue of William Tyndale.

22 Cabbie Shelter
Walk through the gardens with the Embankment on your right and exit after the statue of Outram. Cross Northumberland Avenue at the pedestrian crossing and immediately turn left.
On your left is a green Victorian Cabbie Shelter, now a coffee bar, where taxi drivers could have a “natural break” and refreshments.

23 Embankment
Take the first road on the right, Embankment Place, and walk under the railway bridge.
On your right is an entrance to Embankment station.

With Embankment Station on your right, turn left into Villiers Street.
